At the moment, gentrification processes affect Neukölln perhaps more than any other neighbourhood in Berlin. Cheap rents attract artists and culture workers, who often provide, wanting to or not, their contribution to the gentrification process, as they culturally upgrade the neighbourhood. This is as such not a bad thing, but if the artists are instrumentalised for the purpose of price increases and evictions, a conflict arises. Also Gitte Bohr as non-commercial space feels affected by the involuntary creation of symbolic capital. Because of this, Gitte Bohr offers a review and critical discussion of the situation in the form of an info-exhibition with artistic contributions (a.o. Atladóttir & d’Ors) and events.
