A close-up on mascletàs
Mascletàs are noise symphonies, composed by ritmic, controled firework explosions, very popular at celebrations in the Comunidad Valenciana, Spain. Differently from traditional fireworks, which are basically colourful and at night, the mascletàs mostly take place during the day, and are oriented towards stimulation through ritmic vibrations and huge sound levels. They leave nothing but smoke clouds behind.
My interest in the mascletàs lies in the sculptural qualities of the ‘pure’ explosion.
During the month of March I will take a close-up on them in collaboration with Pirotecnia Turís and the Asociación Cultural Amigos de la Pirotecnia. More information will follow soon.
